US-based Threekit launches AR shopping experience for apparel and luxury

American visual configuration platform Threekit has announced the launch of its immersive shopping suite, advanced augmented reality (AR) and virtual try-on features that offer online shoppers a good customer experience. The suite is an extension of Threekit’s existing AR offering, a feature that can increase a client’s e-commerce sales by up to 50 percent.

Threekit’s virtual try-on uses physically-based rendering, is web-based and does not require a separate app download, the company said in a media release.

Powered by 8th Wall, Advanced AR enables a cross-platform AR shopping experience that brands can use to showcase their products across the web. This includes using custom elements, including interactive buttons that allow for product configuration, hotspots and annotations that provide product information and built-in calls-to-action within the AR scene. 8th Wall’s newly introduced Absolute Scale feature enables this level of customer interactivity while keeping the product to scale in WebAR when viewed in the real world using an iOS or Android smartphone.

“Today’s online shopper wants more than just pictures of a product. He wants a complete product experience. Augmented AR and Virtual Try-On deliver products directly into the shopper’s world, giving them context, inspiration and most importantly, confidence to make a purchase. AR is no longer a fun “nice to have”. It’s an immersive feature that drives results,” Matt Gorniak, CEO of Threekitcalled.
