Rusty becomes Official Apparel Partner of Margaret River Pro 2022
“Rusty is one of the most recognizable and iconic brands in surfing, so WSL is thrilled to have them on board as the Margaret River Pro’s Official Apparel Partner for 2022,” said WSL APAC General Manager Andrew Stark. “Not only is the brand’s global headquarters located in Western Australia, but they are also a premier surfboard and apparel company, making them perfect to partner with WSL on apparel and merchandise at the WA CT event. We look forward to working with Rusty and thank them for their support of this year’s Margaret River Pro.”
Rusty will manage the distribution of Margaret River Pro and World Surf League merchandise along with select Rusty apparel. The iconic R. will also be present digitally and via event branding, which will be an epic reflection of the continued strong participation of surfing’s ‘core brands’ at an elite level.
“Backing up to WSL is a huge milestone for us as a brand given our long history and deep heritage in manufacturing performance surfboards and apparel,” said Rusty Managing Director Geoff Backshall. “The Rusty HQ team and I are also big fans of WSL’s recent initiatives pushing for equal prize money for female and male athletes. Whatever the event, I would walk through our office and hear the familiar sounds of Kaipo, Joe, or Rosie on the phone. It was a natural partnership for us and necessary for us to take the next step back onto the world stage as a premium surf brand.”
The 2022 Margaret River Pro, Stop 5 and Mid-Season Decision on the WSL Championship Tour will take place April 24-May 4.
