PXG partners with Nick Jonas for first golf apparel collaboration

Nick Jonas fell in love with golf in his teens and discovered it was “the perfect pre-show activity” as the global pop icon visited different cities while on tour with his older brothers. Today, all three Jonas brothers live in different parts of the country, but golf still brings them together occasionally — with Scottsdale National, Arizona’s exclusive private club owned by PXG founder Bob Parsons, as their home base.

And now, Nick Jonas has teamed up with PXG for the brand’s first-ever apparel collaboration. After working closely with Renee Parsons, President and Executive Creator of PXG Apparel, and her team, the artist, actress and self-proclaimed golf fanatic unveils a modern, golf-inspired fashion collection, ranging from hats and bags to socks, mules, shirts and Pants.

“When I was invited to Scottsdale National and met the Parsons, I fell in love with this place that they created,” said Jonas. “It’s the culture of the club itself, but also of the (golf) clubs and the clothing. I dreamed for a while that I could do something with them on the apparel side. When we all talked about it and talked about the vision behind it, it was a perfect fit. I am definitely addicted to golf and even more so after releasing this awesome capsule with PXG. I’m really looking forward to the world seeing it.”

The limited-edition collection, which will be available next month on PXG’s website and in the brand’s standalone stores, includes 15 clothing styles and nine accessories.

“It’s a really interesting time in golf, with I think there’s been a huge surge of (newer) golfers loving the game in the last few years,” said Jonas. “Building a pod with someone who is not a professional golfer is incredibly bold and disruptive for PXG. I really love and respect that they were willing to do that because I really think it speaks volumes for the development of this game and that so many people love it.

“It’s not about being the very best golfer in the world,” he added. “It’s about getting out there, having a great time and having great experiences with people. With that in mind, we approached design from the same perspective and angle – meaning that this should be a brand built for people who love the game but also love fashion and love the functionality of a piece of clothing that can be worn on the pitch. to a date, to work, to the gym, whatever your pace is.”

While the PXG x NJ collection is a little more trend-oriented than some of the company’s other offerings, it still offers highly technical golf apparel. And Jonas was very involved throughout the creative process, says Renee Parsons, with input on materials, fabrics and color combinations, not to mention more specific ideas ranging from details on a polo sleeve or outerwear pieces to logo development.

As well as being creative, thoughtful and passionate about golf, 30-year-old Jonas will help increase the visibility of the PXG brand to a wider range of golfers. And generally more people.

“That was a big part of what was exciting for us,” Parsons said. “We really wanted to push the PXG brand; I always say that I’d love to be part of the cultural conversation, whether it’s about current trends in fashion, pop culture, what’s happening on social media, and also in the younger demographic. Working with Nick helps achieve many of those points. He is not well known in golf, although he is very passionate about golf.

“He has over 33 million followers on Instagram and we know that they are very different from our current demo and we find that interesting. We want to make the brand known to more people. Golf in general has tried to do that – to reach more people, be more inclusive, be more accessible, and be less intimidating. Having someone like Nick Jonas in this room with us helps us do that.”

Parsons suggested this could be the first of a series of similar collaborations for PXG, which has grown about 40% year over year in the apparel segment of its business, as industry-wide momentum remains strong during golf’s Covid-era. And for PXG, the growth trajectory will be amplified with the opening of more new PXG-branded stores. The latest opening happens to be in Paramus, NJ, the state where Jonas was born, and to further celebrate the PXG x NJ collection, PXG is also hosting a nearby pop-up event on November 15th in New York City This time they will be recreating the clubhouse experience at Scottsdale National.

“It comes full circle for him, golf and fashion are in New York City,” Parsons said. “We’re so excited.”
