Costa Toscana hosts a fashion show ahead of the inaugural cruise

Sustainable fashion producer Jessica Minh Anh will transform the new LNG-powered cruise ship, the Costa Toscana, into a sky-high ocean runway on February 28, 2022.

According to a press release, the J Spring Fashion Show 2022 will take place against the cinematic backdrop of the Italian Riviera to convey a message of “sustainability and style”. The event will welcome some global media and celebrities aboard Costa Toscana ahead of her inaugural cruise in Portofino, Italy.

The participating brands, which will be presented in mid-February 2022, will present a combination of haute couture and ready-to-wear collections from five continents. Minh Anh’s previous catwalks have included Paul Costelloe, Montblanc, Yumi Katsura, Ziad Nakad, Shiatzy Chen and Tony Ward.

The red carpet experience features Italian art, architecture, culture, luxury and delicacies alongside the stunning catwalk.

“This special moment in history offers an opportunity for a sustainable ‘reboot’ of our society. The Costa Toscana fits perfectly with my mission to highlight sustainability in a visually appealing way. It runs on liquefied natural gas, one of the most advanced emission reduction technologies available today. It represents a breakthrough in the travel industry. I am honored to celebrate the resurgence of business and style on such a unique ship,” said Minh Anh.

According to the press release, the 2022 J Spring Fashion Show is Minh Anh’s “comeback runway” following the success of “Runway on the Runway” at JFK International Airport, which was held before the pandemic. The show will combine three Minh Anh catwalk series viz Fashion x sustainability, catwalk on the waterand sky high. Previous editions have taken place on the Eiffel Tower, London’s Tower Bridge, Grand Canyon Skywalk, Hoover Dam, Gemasolar Power Plant and on cruise ships in Dubai, New York, Sydney and Hong Kong.

“Jessica Minh Anh is a pioneer in combining fashion and sustainability, just like Costa Cruises when it comes to offering the most advanced sustainable ships,” said Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Cruises. “Costa was the first company in the world to operate LNG-powered vessels and focus on value-based, sustainable and inclusive tourism. As the travel industry begins to recover, it is very exciting for us to welcome Jessica on board and let her creatively spread such an important message on our new flagship, the Costa Toscana. We are also proud that this collaboration will take place in Italy and specifically on the Ligurian Riviera!”
