TRMC WOUND CENTER RECOGNIZED: Trumbull Regional Medical Center’s Wound Healing Center has received the Center of Distinction Award from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

This is the seventh consecutive year that the center has received this award.

The center has achieved outstanding clinical results for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate of over 92 percent and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent with an average of 28 days to healing.

The TRMC center is the only center in the Mahoning Valley to have received such an award. Only 250 centers in the US received the distinction of 600.

MILLWOOD ACQUIRES BUSINESS: Millwood Inc. has acquired Cleveland Custom Pallet & Crate, Inc. in downtown Cleveland. It is Millwood’s tenth location in Ohio and its 32nd location nationwide.

With the additional location, Millwood will be able to ship whitewood pallets, cases and other products and services throughout much of Northeast Ohio and beyond.

Cleveland Custom Pallet, formerly known as G&M Pallet & Skid, Co., serves much of the greater Cleveland area, including downtown, and is a family business with more than 40 years and two generations of experience. It specializes in many of the same products and services that Millwood already offers, such as: Such as custom pallets, plastic pallets, compressed wood pallets (INCA), crates, heat treatment, pallet removal and other packaging consumables.

VIEWPOINT CHOOSES A LOCAL BUSINESS: Hosted by actor Dennis Quaid, Viewpoint has Youngstown native Dr. Lena Esmail and her chain of urgent concerns chosen as the focus of Viewpoint.

QUICKmed Urgent Care, LLC provides outpatient, school-based, and express healthcare to patients. Its mission is to ensure that patients of all ages and backgrounds have access to convenient, equitable and quality healthcare, wherever and whenever they need it.

A production team was scheduled to film on May 23 for the docuseries, which will feature Esmail and other members of QUICKMed’s executive team. The documentaries are broadcast on major public networks and publicly distributed in all 50 states.

YSU TO HOST TAX INSTITUTE: The Institute on Taxation at Youngstown State University, presented by the Williamson College of Business Administration, will be held at Williamson Hall on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The seminar is intended for practicing accountants, registered agents and tax consultants who wish to keep up to date with tax regulations and laws and gain insight into tax planning techniques.

Sessions include estate planning, IRS updates, taxpayer data protection, phishing schemes, IRS tax professional accounts, pass-through units, state and local taxes, and current cases and judgments. The Ohio and Pennsylvania Accountancy Boards have approved eight hours of continuing education credit for the institute. Training for enrolled agents and accountants is approved by the IRS.

COMPANY GROWS TO PA.: Burgan Real Estate moves to Pennsylvania with realtors Patrick Burgan and Sue Filipovich after earning their Pennsylvania real estate license.

One of the few local brokerage firms selected as part of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, Burgan Real Estate sees Pennsylvania as the next logical step for the company’s growth. The company plans to invest the same in the Pennsylvania markets as it does in the Mahoning Valley, including a branch office, agents and community work.

FURNITURE STORE OPEN: Bob’s Discount Furniture recently held a grand opening for its Boardman location at 1240 Doral Drive.

As part of the event, the company donated US$2,500 to Poland Middle School and US$2,500 to Magic of Michael Foundation Inc.

Bob’s Discount Furniture is the 10th largest US furniture chain with more than 150 stores in 24 states and more than $2 billion in annual sales.

MALL WELCOMES NEW STORE: Southern Park Mall has added Daily Thread to its retail portfolio.

COMPANY HIRES FOUR YSU GRADES: Commercial Metal Forming, a Youngstown-based tank head manufacturer, has added four Youngstown State University graduates to its sales team. They are:

• Molly Kale from Poland who will be Inside Sales Representative and Purchasing Assistant. She follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, Jack Cramb, and father, Gary Cramb, both long-time employees of CMF.

• Laurie Peterson of New Castle, Pa., will handle back office duties. She holds a bachelor’s degree in applied science from YSU.

• Danielle Gorby becomes key account sales manager. She has a degree in chemical engineering from YSU and follows her father into the manufacturing industry. Her responsibilities include strengthening relationships with national customers.

• Nick Sarbin joins CMF after graduating with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing. He will work in internal sales.

PREMIER BANK HIRES CHIEF CREDIT OFFICER: Premier Bank has hired Craig Sciara as executive vice president, chief credit officer.

Sciara brings 34 years of retail and corporate banking, leadership and finance experience. He comes to Premier from Heartland Financial USA, a large regional bank focused on community banking, where he served as Senior Vice President, Regional Credit Officer.

COMPANY HIRES NEW AGENT: Coldwell Banker EvenBay Real Estate has added May Samad to its team of real estate professionals.

Samad, who earned her real estate license in Ohio this year, is a graduate of Ursuline High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Cleveland State University.

It will serve Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

FOUNDATION HIRES ADMINISTRATOR: The Mahoning Valley Community Foundation has hired Kathleen McGlothren as their operations and grants administrator. She is the foundation’s third hire in the past year as it works to expand its capacity to support the region’s charitable community.

As Operations and Grants Administrator, she is responsible for the efficient running of offices and administrative functions such as records, data management and support to President Shari Harrell.

It also directly supports the Foundation’s funding and scholarship processes.

WEAN ADDED DIRECTOR: The Raymond John Wean Foundation recently appointed Erika Parker to the newly created position of Communications Officer.

In this role, she will be responsible for sharing the stories of the Foundation and its grantees with the community.

Parker comes to the foundation with more than 17 years of community service experience, most recently as director of marketing at Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries. She lives in Warren and graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in advertising and public relations.

iSYNERGY IS GROWING: iSynergy has added Danny Mizicko to the company’s video department, bringing nearly two decades of video knowledge to iSynergy’s video team.

After graduating in Telecommunications from Youngstown State University, Mizicko has held various roles as cinematographer, director, producer and editor, working with top professional athletes and brands such as Nike, Red Bull, Fiat, Garmin and Rockstar.

Mizicko most recently worked as an NBA video editor, creating content for their digital platforms and the NBA Finals commercials that aired on ESPN.

He has run his own action sports brand, Stuck In Ohio Productions, for more than 20 years, generating national attention and providing local athletes with a showcase of their skills.
