The virtual Trades Awards ceremony recognized outstanding individuals and companies from across the North Scottish construction industry for their achievements.

The event was broadcast live from the M&G TV + Stream Television Studio at Mearns & Gill in Aberdeen to over 50 separate parties in the Northeast, with a finalist from Vancouver joining.

Finalists and sponsors adopted the digital format and adhered to the black dress code, even though they celebrated in separate living rooms, meeting rooms and function rooms.

A total of 13 awards were given, with categories for outstanding personalities and for overall economic performance.

The Trades Awards continue to enjoy strong support from the local construction industry, with Stewart Milne Group returning as the main sponsor for the seventh year running and WM Donald joining as a supporting sponsor.

The evening was hosted by Pauline Fraser and Chris Harvey from STV, who worked seamlessly throughout the live production to ensure the event was as entertaining and entertaining as live television, and all finalists received red carpet treatment.

Jim Young, a state-certified civil engineer who recently stepped down from his position as construction manager within the CHAP Group, accepted the award for outstanding contribution after 43 years of service in the construction industry.

Most recently, Mr. Young also sat on the Construction Scotland Covid Action and Recovery working group in 2020.

The Outstanding Contribution Award went to Jim Young.

Neil Thomson, Assistant Director of Stewart Milne Homes Scotland, said: “The Stewart Milne Group is very proud to have sponsored these awards for the seventh time.

“The last 18 months have been extremely challenging for all of us, but we’ve learned to be more resilient, adaptable, flexible and innovative, and this year’s finalists and winners are proof of that.

“There has never been a better time to work in the construction industry and I hope this year’s worthy winners inspire others to consider this exciting and rewarding career path.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all this year’s winners and wish them all the best for the future. The construction industry is in good hands. “

Elaine Donald, Director of World Cup Donald, said, “We are proud to be a supporting sponsor alongside the Stewart Milne Group for the first time this year.

“It is so important to us to recognize and promote future talents in our industry, such as apprentices and young craftsmen.

“The evening really celebrates the hard work and effort that everyone puts in every day to grow the construction industry and bring about positive change.”

Mike Wilson, Managing Director of Mearns & Gill said, “We are grateful to all of the individuals and companies who supported the Trades Awards this year.

“Thank you to our sponsors who showed their support in a year with so many unknowns, thank you to our jury for giving up so much time, and thank you to all finalists who took their time in their hectic schedule for taking this leap of faith dare and fill out an application form.

“The virtual award ceremony was a very special, human occasion, possibly also because our finalists and winners were surrounded by friends and family in their own environment. We are very excited that the ceremony will be face-to-face next year, but the challenge for our team is to reproduce these special elements for the tenth anniversary of the Trades Awards. “
